Exploring My Neighborhood

The wet market.  Where you can buy fresh produce, meats and many other interesting items.  There is a  very strong smell when you walk in.  It is very unpleasant.

The chickens they kill for people to buy.

Walking home from school.  A neighborhood street.

A home in my neighborhood.  The area I live in is very wealthy.   I am about 40 minutes outside the big city, Guangzhou.  You would never see a three-story home like this there.

A children's park

Squat toilets.  I have not had to use these yet.  I have heard how challenging they are, but someday I will need to learn.  I have been lucky to find western toilets when I needed them, but you do have to look out for shoe marks on the western toilet seats!!
The buses in my area.  I took these everywhere I need to go.  If I take it within my neighborhood, it is free.  But either way the buses are cheep!

View from the 9th floor of my apartment building.  It is very common for people to ride scooters.  The majority of the teachers have scooters and use them to get around.  People are crazy drivers, so you have to look out!!

Sunset from the same balcony as above.  9th floor
