Travels

Welcome to my TRAVELS page!! I will share all the wonderful places that I visit throughout my time in China.  I hope looking through these pictures, you will be inspired to travel and find places that you love.  Enjoy!

Japan!!

My first holiday was for a week in October.  I took this time to explore three different cities in Japan.  I visited Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo.

First day of traveling ended up being terrible.  Our flight was scheduled to leave at 8am on Sunday.  There was a horrible typhoon, so no planes were leaving for southern Japan.   They said we might be able to get on a flight at 5pm, but we would have to wait until 2pm to find out, or come back the next day and we might be able to get on a flight.  We decided to stick it out in the airport for about 12 hours.  Luckily the Hong Kong airport has many shops and restaurants, so we were able to keep ourselves occupied.

We landed in Osaka, and took the bus to our hostel.  The next morning we made our way to Kyoto to meet some friends and spent the next 2 days there exploring.

KYOTO!

In Kyoto the day after a wild typhoon.

Hostel: K's House in Kyoto.  I would recommend this hostel to others.  Very nice place to stay and in a good location.

Hostel room, dorm style with 6 people.

In the Kimono shop.  Had so many different styles to choose from.

My friend Shannon (left) and I didn't realize we were going to wear the Kimonos all day.  We thought it was just to try on and that was it.  Instead, we explored Kyoto in our kimonos.  It was a lot of fun!!
Pit stop at Starbucks!
Taking pictures in these photos booths are really common, especially for girls.  Here are some of the pictures.  Purikura is the Japanese word for it.

Kiyomizu Temple in Kyoto

Many people wanted to take pictures of us in our Kimonos.  We were very popular!

Kyoto city view from the top of the hill.  Kyoto Tower on the right.

Very beautiful temple, I wish the weather was better, but luckily no rain.

Kyoto Tower (in the distance) at night
Night out!! Before Karaoke!

This meal was delicious.  I really enjoyed Japanese food.  Very flavorful sauces and spices.  It was a little bit pricey, but worth it.

Dinner time!!! YummYumm!  Apricot Sake, which was really tasty!

Ready to Explore Kyoto!! Day 2
Atsumi (right) Rika (left) both studied English at Queens University.  My friend Shannon was their language partner during their time in Canada.  Atsumi is a flight attendant for Japan Airlines and Rika will start teaching English in Japan when she finishes school.  They were wonderful tour guides for us during our time in Kyoto.
